Portlands Seals

The Seal colony at Cape Bridgewater is one of Portlands most visited attractions

The seals can be viewed from a platform just 70 metres above sea level

There are tow options to walk out to the viewing platform

1 Start your walk to the viewing platform at the top of the hill past the kiosk. This is an average 2 hour walk which is 5.4 km return. You will walk along the top of Vivtorias highest cliff ay 130 metres above sea level

2 You can take the flatter but longer walk 8km return from the blow holes car park. Seals can be viewed all year round and in all weathers/ After many years as a non breeding colony this is now Australias only mainland breeding colony. Pups are born about December and start to swim at 6 weeks of age. they are weaned between 3 and 6 months of age.
